Beltran kicks off campaign for Congress

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Another candidate is eyeing Doc Hastings' seat in Congress. Democrat Estakio Beltran kicked off his bid in Downtown Yakima Thursday.

Beltran once worked for Sen. Maria Cantwell. He was also a senior aide to Calif. Rep. Dennis Cardoza. Right now, all his time is focused on the campaign.

Beltran said he wants to fix the broken immigration system.

"I was raised and survived off of the goodwill of countless people in this community, in my community, and now I feel like it's my turn to give back," said Beltran.

There are more than ten people trying to replace Hastings, who is not seeking re-election.
