Opinion: Diversity of ideas and viewpoints is vital to a functioning democracy

EDITOR'S NOTE: Boris Epshteyn formerly served as a Senior Advisor to the Trump Campaign and served in the White House as Special Assistant to The President and Assistant Communications Director for Surrogate Operations.

WASHINGTON (Sinclair Broadcast Group) - Diversity.

We celebrate it in our country.

The diversity of ideas and viewpoints is vital to a functioning democracy.

It is important to keep an open mind and truly listen to all viewpoints. I am concerned and troubled by the lack of tolerance to opposing opinions that is sadly becoming the norm in our country. I personally experience that intolerance.

My job here at Bottom Line with Boris is to share with you key facts on significant topics that impact you at home and at work. I offer my personal perspective and analysis based on my experience, my knowledge.

Some people want to silence my voice and keep me off TV, simply because I worked on political campaigns and for this current administration.

That is ironic, considering how many former political operatives now anchor or host TV news programs. They include ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, MSNBC’s Chris Matthews, CNN's Jake Tapper, NBC’s Chuck Todd… just to name a few. Maybe that’s viewed as okay because all of these well-respected folks worked for Washington Democrats before joining the media.

Here’s the bottom line: my goal is to offer educated, thoughtful analysis you may not hear elsewhere. I hope that you, the viewers, believe, as I do, that listening to others helps our country thrive.

If for some reason you find something that I shared with you that’s not accurate, please reach out to me at bottomline@sbgtv.com.

Thank you all for tuning in to Bottom Line with Boris.
