50,000 more people hiking badger mountain in 2012

RICHLAND, Wash. -- Badger mountain improvements have proven to make more people want to hike.

It's estimated that over 170,000 people went up badger mountain last year. That's 50,000 more people than in 2010.

Many climbers we talked to said the extension of more trails and the quality upkeep.. keeps them coming back. Last year's good weather had some newbies trying out the mountain.

One climber says, "The way they've improved the trails, the people who come to work on the trails make it really nice and special."

"Depending on the weather, I think it's getting a lot nicer, so more people are going up," says Hiker, Brooke Clark.
