In 2011 a little more than half of dogs were adopted. This year only a quarter. But, more than a quarter of dogs are also being transferred out to other facilities. Still they hope more people will come in and find a new pet.
"It's frustrating when dogs don't get adopted out of here quickly, but our work with the no-kill rescues, they adopt them out so quick, we have heard they actually get them adopted out the same weekend we transfer them over to them," said Benton County Officer Cody Hammill.
A super pet adoption will be held a week from Saturday at Columbia Park.
