Animals dumped at Tri-City Animal Control Shelter

PASCO - Years after installing surveillance cameras, people are still dumping off pets at the Tri-City Animal Control.

In 2011, the shelter was taking in four to five animals per month. That number did go down slightly last year, but animal workers say pet dumping is still a big problem.

Desperate times means many people are willing to be spotted abandoning their pets. Experts say the animals are often too scared to survive by themselves.
"I really wish that people would come in with the honest truth and let us help - and we will help them in any way we can," said Tri-City Animal Control Director Angela Zilar.

Officials say - if they can't take the animal, they'll offer you options for the pet's best care.
