Dale Stopperan thanks first responders

WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- On Friday, Principal Dale Stopperan returned to Sager Middle School and personally thanked dozens of police officers and medics who quickly responded to the school after an attack by two teens.

The principal thanked the men and women who helped during an assembly at the school.

On June 8th, police say two teens attacked Stopperan and other school staff with a spear-like weapon and a wooden staff.

Stopperan suffered injuries to his knee and left ear which required immediate medical attention.

Hospital staff treated and released Stopperan that day.

The Walla Walla prosecuting attorney has charged 18 year-old, Jaymond Oakhurst, with first-degree assault in the case.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, June 19th.
