Auto thefts down

KENNEWCIK - It's a startling crime. You start your car outside, leave - and only come back to find it stolen.

That was the case for many at the start of the year. Then -- Kennewick Police reported several auto thefts every week. Now - those thefts are on the decline. Police tell us the warming weather means people aren't leaving their cars warming up.

In the past month -- only five cars were reported stolen. As you can tell on this map -- there are no target locations.

"It was definitely a violation of privacy. I mean, it was scary to know random people were on our property. I definitely don't want to think of those things happening in a family friendly neighborhood," said auto theft victim Bobbi.

And as always -- police advise you to lock up to stop criminals.
