Benton County Commissioners: No more pot shops
BENTON COUNTY, Wash. - No new pot stores will be allowed in unincorporated Benton County.
That's what County Commissioners decided when they voted on it in Prosser on Tuesday night.
This doesn't change anything for the four existing licenses already out there.
Those are grandfathered in.
Benton County is allotted four licenses from the State of Washington.
If stores using the current licenses go out of business, Benton County wont issue new licenses to others hoping to replace them.
Benton County Commissioner Jerome Delvin told Action News this also means the four existing marijuana retailers in Benton County aren't able to transfer or sell their licences to other shops.
He said if the new one in West Richland is ever finished, it will be the last.
