Benton-Franklin Red Cross volunteer departs to mudslide

AMERICAN RED CROSS NEWS RELEASE -- American Red Cross Volunteer, Daphne Hambrook, has deployed to the Oso mudslide disaster site. Ms. Hambrook, from Kennewick, will join nearly two dozen volunteers from eastern Washington already deployed to help with relief efforts.

A Red Cross volunteer for over twenty years, Hambrook will serve in a supervisory capacity in the area of Staff Services. Primary duties can include coordination efforts in housing and transportation and providing support to other departments for the nearly 300 Red Cross volunteers currently working on the Oso disaster. Her deployment duration is open-ended at this time.

"We are proud of all the Red Cross volunteers who give so generously whenever they are needed. Daphne is certainly one of our stars," says chapter Executive Director Peggy Hoggarth.

Ms. Hambrook has deployed to several other disaster relief operations including: Hurricane Sandy, Hurricane Katrina, and the Pasco Apartment Fire.
