Benton PUD to raise electrical bill rates
BENTON COUNTY, Wash. - Benton PUD customers are soon to see an increase in their bills.
The electrical company's Commission approved a retail rate increase of nearly two (1.9) percent to all customers effective October 1, 2017, according to Benton PUD officials.
The increase is due to PUD's primary provider, Bonneville Power Administration's (BPA), 5.4% average wholesale rate increase, which will also take effect Oct. 1.
The daily system charge will increase from 55 cents to 62 cents per day, according to Benton PUD. The rate per kilowatt-hour will stay the same.
An average residential customer will see monthly bill increases from approximately $113.40 to $115.50.
BPA’s wholesale rates continue to rise mainly due to decreasing wholesale market prices.
