Block watch boom in Richland

RICHLAND, Wash. -- Action News discovered there's been an explosion of block watch programs in Richland, and it's led to a big drop in crime.Last year the number of neighborhood watch programs more than tripled.27 groups are now based in Richland.At the same time, burglary cases dropped by a third.Police say more people are willing to report crime as soon as they see it.Authorities are hoping to start a dozen additional neighborhood watch programs by the end of the year.
