Body of missing Hanford High senior recovered from Yakima River
RICHLAND, Wash. — Police said the body of a man missing since Memorial Day was found in the Yakima River on Sunday.
RPD said a volunteer located the body of 18-year-old Dmetri Kennedy-Woody after a week-long search by numerous agencies.
Witnesses reported seeing Kennedy-Woody jumping into the Yakima River from a railroad bridge on Monday afternoon.
Officials said his body was found under the State Route 240 bridge.
Allen Water Rescue Services owner Mark Allen was on the scene of today's tragic discovery, and said now the family can start healing.
"It's a big relief because they have their son," Allen said. "They have closure, and now they can have a service for him and begin to put the pieces back together."
Details about Dmetri's memorial service are still unknown.
