Booze up and serve time

TRI-CITIES - 'Tis the season for having too much of a good time--- and driving drunk.Action News learned state troopers are boosting patrols in an effort to get drunks off our roads this holiday season.

And they do have some bragging rights. WSP tells us DUI's are down by 50% compared to last year.
Folks are advised to call the Tipsy Taxi for a free ride home. Police say it's not about cutting out the booze - it's about the strategy of staying safe.

"Go to parties, go to bars, have a plan! That's all we're asking. Use a cab, have a friend, do something to get yourself home safely," said Kennewick Police Sergeant Ken Lattin.

With more officers on the road during the holidays - driving sober will cut your chances of a trip to the slammer.
