Captain Mike Cobb receives high honor

One of Richland's finest received high honors Tuesday night from his peers across the country.

Captain Mike Cobb was awarded the Outstanding Service Award for his 20 years wearing the uniform. Cobb has been critical in group crisis interventions from the Columbine school shooting to 9-11.

"It seems like a natural fit for you to wear that uniform," said Mayor Pro Tem David Rose. "It's humbling," said Cobb. "I represent the face of a whole bunch of people who are doing a lot of good work; I just happen to be the one singled out. This is very much a team effort."

Cobb has trained thousands of first responders around the country. His nomination came from many of the same people he trained decades ago.
