Slipper bandit caught on camera at Ranch and Home in Kennewick
KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Kennewick police identified Arthur Christian Hancock as the man who tried to dash from Ranch and Home with stolen slippers on his feet Wednesday.
Authorities said Christian is still on the run and Action News has the exclusive security camera footage of what went down Wednesday.
Staff at the store said Hancock put on a pair of slippers and then started to run for the exits after he was approached by several employees and even had customers taking off after him. The whole slipper chase was caught on camera.
Store manager Darwin Ridley breaks down the details.
"He had a pop in his bag and he chucked the pop at me and then the wrestling match was on," said Ridley, adding "I grabbed his shirt to hold him to keep him from running from the door. Another employee was in pursuit of him and he stopped as soon as he kicked the shoes off and then the employee told me he started throwing rocks at that employee. That kind of behavior I've never seen that and I've been here five years. "
Ranch and Home officials said they take shoplifting seriously. They've already beefed up their security for the holiday season, adding undercover shoppers to their surveillance.
