Citizenship Day attracts a crowd

PASCO, Wash. -- Some members of our community are taking steps closer to becoming US citizen.

Several attorneys walked these hopefuls through paperwork.

"Citizenship Day" was created by the Washington Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.

Event organizers anticipated 75 people to show up.

The events goal is to point eligible applicants toward their interview and test.

Those not eligible where explained the reason why and given steps to move forward.

Many permanent U.S. residents made the decision to make it official.

"I've been living here for at least 18 years and I think it's time to become a U.S. Citizen. It's a lot of paperwork, but it's kind of complicated. It's worth it," said citizenship applicant Lucio Moreno.

Washington New Americans offers the event two to three times a year.
