'Day of Service' cleans up the Tri-Cities

TRI-CITIES - Today more than 1500 people from the Mormon church cleaned up parts of the Tri-Cities and Prosser.

Volunteers took on more than 40 projects.

Parks, museums, fences were restored, re-roofed, and repainted.
Families and volunteers of all ages helped out.

One project in Pasco reboarded a fence once covered by graffiti.

"To see these things - like you said - that couldn't have gotten done on this time frame - but we're able to do it here because we have the manpower," said Project Director Bill Henry.

The Church of Latter Day Saints started the yearly Day of Service after the 9/11 attacks.
