Defense rests in John Young murder trial

BENTON COUNTY, Wash. -- A murder trial is wrapping up in Benton County. Our colleagues at the Tri-City Herald report the defense rested its case without John Young taking the stand.

The 19-year-old is charged with the premeditated murder of his friend Josh Snapp.

Throughout the trial, Young has tried to diminish his role, claiming he was scared of the second suspect. That man is already serving time for his role in the murder.

The jury was cleared from the room briefly Wednesday after a bullet from an evidence envelope was found by the witness stand. It appeared to have fallen out while being used as an exhibit.
