Deputy-involved shooting takes place in Dayton
DAYTON, Wash. —
A welfare check Wednesday afternoon resulted in a scuffle that involved a Columbia County Sheriff's Office deputy and ended with a fired gunshot.
According to CCSO, the incident happened just before 2:30 P.M. at the Dayton High School baseball field on the 300 block of S. Cottonwood Street in Dayton.
Officials say Columbia County Reserve Deputy Kenneth Foxe responded for a welfare check at that location.
When he arrived, he was confronted by Alonzo Snider of Dayton.
The two got into a scuffle and a deputy-involved shooting took place.
Neither man was hit by the gunshot.
Reserve Deputy Foxe received multiple lacerations and minor injuries during the scuffle, while snider received minor injuries.
Both were treated on scene and then taken to hospitals.
Foxe went to Dayton General Hospital, while Snider received care from Providence St. Mary Medical Center.
The Washington State Patrol is investigating the incident.
