Donations for carousel rides going to Kennewick police care fund
KENNEWICK, Wash. - A family event in Kennewick is helping to raise money to benefit people in the community in need of immediate care.
The Gesa Carousel of Dreams is hosting a summer event with the Kennewick Police Department (KPD) and Sylvan Learning Center celebrating the end of the school year for students.
Families can enjoy carousel rides at 2901 Southridge Boulevard Wednesday, June 13, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
According to a Facebook post, a $5 donation from one person or a $20 donation for up to six family members will get visitors two carousel rides, food and drink, and the opportunity to tour emergency vehicles and pictures with police officers.
Donations will go to KPD's Community Care Fund, which allows officers to help people with an immediate need.
Event leaders say folks can get an extra carousel ride from Sylvan Learning by bringing a new or gently used children's book to donate to The Children's Reading Foundation of the Mid-Columbia.
