Dr. Rick Schulte selected to fill Richland's superintendent position

The Richland School District has chosen Dr. Rick Schulte as its new superintendent. Here is their announcement:

The Richland School Board today selected Dr. Rick Schulte to be the new Superintendent of the Richland School District.

Dr. Schulte currently is Superintendent of the Oak Harbor School District, a position he has held since 1993. Pending contract negotiations, he will assume the superintendency on July 1, 2013.

"Dr. Schulte is a talented administrator and an excellent match for the Richland School District," said Rick Jansons, President of the Richland School Board. "He's an outstanding educational leader and our system will continue to improve under his guidance."

Prior to the Oak Harbor superintendency, Dr. Schulte served as Assistant Superintendent in Oak Harbor for six years. Prior to Oak Harbor, Dr. Schulte was a middle school Principal and high school Principal in the Bremerton School District. He earned his Master's Degree from the University of Washington in 1980 and his Doctorate from Seattle University in 1987.
