Family asking for help after U-Haul truck and cat stolen in Kennewick
KENNEWICK, Wash. — The family whose cross-country move was interrupted by a theft early Sunday morning said the thief got away with everything they own, including their beloved cat, Clyde.
The theft happened in the parking lot of the Baymont Inn and Suites on 27th Place in Kennewick around 3:40 a.m. Sunday morning.
Victim Lacey, who asked Action News not to use their surname, said they're moving to the Seattle area from Arizona for husband Chris' job.
She said sometime after 1 a.m. Chris woke up to check on Clyde.
The adopted the 10-year-old Russian Blue has been with the family for nearly a decade, and was spending the night in their truck because the hotel didn't allow pets.
Lacey said Clyde is a shy cat with a uniquely crimped tail, and said he's an important part of their family.
"I've had lots of pets but he's the first that I've ever really felt the love return[ed] at such a deep level," she said. "It's not just a matter of taking care of something, it's a shared relationship."
She said they're hoping somebody will see this and tell police something to help get Clyde home.
