KEPR learned in the first six months of this year, there have been 500 fewer speeding tickets given out compared to the same time last year. Troopers also responded to 74 more accidents in that same time comparison. Troopers point to some winter conditions.
"It doesn't necessarily worry me, but it definitely plays a part in how busy we are as far as a police agency, more motorists on the road, more problems, typically," said WSP Trooper, Chris Thorson.
Troopers also say total violations are down over a hundred citations and expect that number to continue with having a full squad. A greater presence tends to keep drivers in check.
