Fire danger rated high in Benton County
BENTON COUNTY, Wash. - Public outdoor burning has been prohibited this week in Benton County due to dry weather conditions.
A report from the Fire Marshal said fire danger has been rated as high for the Benton County area until Tuesday, June 26.
Under a high danger rating, firefighters said wildfires are likely. Fires burning dried grass or forest litter would be difficult to control in windy weather conditions.
Public outdoor burning is not allowed unless the fire is recreational and contained within a metal fire ring. Residential burning is also not allowed unless the fire is recreational or for heating purposes.
Fire officials say while danger is still high, recent rain showers have made a slight dent in danger.
Dry weather conditions with temperatures in the mid 80s to low 90s can be expected Friday through Tuesday, according to reports.
