Firefighters are trying to get a warm winter coat to children in need

PASCO, Wash. -- As the cold winter months move in, warm coat is priceless--especially to a child.

The Pasco Union Firefighters braved the cold and rain to raise money for Operation Warm--nonprofit that will put a warm winter coat on children in need in Pasco.

The team partnered up with Roasters Coffee, collecting donations as folks got their morning brew.

Firefighters said standing outside on a cold damp morning was nothing compared to what hundreds of children in Pasco have to face.

"Kids walk to school in weather like this every day of the week,” firefighter Justin Lockman said. “In really cold weather, every single day of the week. And if we can help those kids out, we'll do that."

Lockman said they've raised enough to give away 150 coats this winter.
