Flashing arrows keep Kennewick drivers safe

KENNEWICK, Wash. -- KEPR discovered flashing arrows have gone a long way at reducing car accidents in Kennewick.

A few years ago, the city added more than 60 flashing arrows at intersections around town.

The goal was to improve safety.

KEPR learned those lights have done the trick.

Since 2009, crashes at intersections with the arrows have been cut by 15%.

Despite the success, drivers say the stop and go traffic is annoying.

Kennewick hasn't identified any other intersections that need the flashing arrows.
