Free household hazardous waste disposal

CITY OF RICHLAND NEWS RELEASE -- Benton County residents can drop off unwanted household hazardous waste on Friday and Saturday, October 4 and 5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Benton Franklin Fairgrounds, 10th Avenue entrance, in Kennewick.
This is two-day event is for residential hazardous waste disposal, no business or commercial waste will be accepted. Acceptable materials include paints, solvents, cleaners, automotive fluids, pesticides, fertilizers, fluorescent light bulbs, batteries, propane tanks, and pool or hot tub chemicals. Items not accepted include electronics, tires, appliances, explosives, radioactive materials, asbestos, biohazards and trash. Proof of Benton County residency is required.

Businesses must make an appointment by calling, 1-800-876-1880 for a Thursday, October 3 time slot.
