Gang-related stabbing scares people in Kennewick

KENNEWICK, Wash. -- It was a jolting scene for witnesses Sunday night in Kennewick -- a stabbing taking place before their eyes.

Police responded to Zillah Street and 3rd Avenue in Kennewick around 6:30 p.m. Police report Oscar Hernandez, 20, was walking in the area and was confronted by two juveniles. A fight broke out between the three. Hernandez was stabbed.

Kennewick Police worked with Benton County Sheriff's Deputies to arrest two people within minutes. Both young men are being held in Juvenile Detention, charged with assault.

As of late Sunday, Hernandez was in stable condition at a local hospital.

Officers say the incident is gang-related. They tell us all involved suspects are known gang members or affiliates.
