Officials tell us it reflects a growing trend. From January to October of this year -- taggings are up 16-percent over the same time last year. The only problem is: catching the crooks may not even do much good.
"Generally, over juvenile detention facility is housing violent offenders, so these kids aren't gonna do any time. They may do some community service -- things like that -- to try and rehabilitate them, but generally, we see them go out and become repeat offenders," said Kennewick Police Sergeant Ken Lattin.
The Kennewick department tells Action News the cases are primarily tagging -- but are not gang-related.
