Grain silo collapses; spills tons of grain on road causing crashes
WALLA WALLA COUNTY, Wash. -- A full grain silo collapsed this afternoon sending tons of grain spilling on Lower Waitsburg Road Wednesday afternoon.
The Sheriff's Office says a full grain silo at the Spring Valley Elevators breached at approximately 4 PM.
Piles of grain littered the roadway between three and eight feet deep.
The massive pile of grain caused two separate collisions but nobody was injured.
Lower Waitsburg Road is closed between Hart road and Ferris Road while crews work to clean the mess.
Officials say it will likely take all night to re-open the roadway.
