Hanford High orchestra to play at national festival
RICHLAND, Wash. - Local students are heading to Indianapolis to play at the 2018 Music for All National Orchestra Festival.
The Hanford High School (HHS) Symphony Orchestra auditioned and has been chosen to perform as one of 13 orchestras from across the country from March 15 to 17, according to a Richland School District release.
Leaders said the young musicians will have the chance to work with some of the top orchestra clinicians in the world.
“Our orchestra program is relatively young so it's amazing to be able to attend a world class music festival like this,” said Chris Newbury, HHS music teacher and symphony orchestra director.
District officials said the HHS Symphony Orchestra was also selected to perform at the 2018 Washington Music Educator’s Conference, held February in Yakima.
