Health district confirms 14 flu deaths in Tri-Cities area
TRI-CITIES, Wash. - Health officials say 14 people in the Tri-Cities area have died due to flu-related complications.
Kathleen Clary-Cooke of Benton-Franklin Health District (BFHD) confirmed two more reported flu deaths February 12, totaling 14 deaths since mid-December.
Thirteen of the 14 people were living in Benton or Franklin County, one was from Yakima County who died in Benton County.
Those who died ranged from 30s to 90s in age. Health leaders said each person was at an increased risk of death due to underlying health conditions or old age.
Those still looking to get a flu vaccine can visit many places including medical providers, pharmacies and BFHD.
