Help in flu season

KENNEWICK - In the thick of our flu epidemic, here's some good news -- a local company is trying to keep our community healthy.

Visiting Angels prepped another 100 "Fight the Flu" bags Friday. They include sanitizer, paper towels and tissues -- all tucked away to give to Tri-Cities seniors. It's the second batch of kits donated this year.

Experts tell us almost 200 people caught the flu the last two weeks.
Workers say this year -- it's not enough to just get a flu shot.

"We have an epidemic going on with the flu and we're hoping to wipe it out by giving to our caretakers and to the public -- along with our clients -- flu kits in order to wipe," said Caregiver Scheduler Toni Bull.

In our state, 34 people have died of the flu. Most were over age 70.
