Holiday season brings more jobs to the Tri-Cities

TRI-CITIES, Wash. - KEPR is continuing to keep you up to date on the job market and we found you have more job options this year.

Reports show that our area has the highest number of non-farm jobs available in more than two years.
We also have the lowest unemployment rate for October in the last two years, sitting at seven percent.

And KEPR took a look at the top five place posting for jobs in the past week, REI and Pizza Hut lead the way with various openings also available at Starbucks, McDonald's, and Rite-Aid. But teenagers told us they're not seeing the same opportunity.

"I'm in school, been calling on all my job applications just been consistent, but nothing," said job seeker Mariah Block.

Officials say that even though the numbers are reason for optimism, up to 500 layoffs are expected at Hanford in the coming months.
