Hot air balloons will launch at sunrise in annual Prosser rally
PROSSER, Wash. - The 27th annual Great Prosser Balloon Rally kicks off this weekend. Viewers can expect to see 17 hot air balloons.
Organizers said all are welcome to attend this free event at the Port of Benton's Prosser Airport from September 22 through 24. Additional family-friendly events will be held in Prosser.
Balloon launch is scheduled each morning at sunrise, 6:45-7:30, event leaders said.
There are amazing balloons and numerous experienced pilots in this family fun event.
"I took my wife for a ride 25 years ago for her birthday, and we crewed the next day for the guy who owned the balloon," said Roy Foote, veteran hot air balloon pilot. "I've always wanted to fly and this was a neat way to do it."
Attendees are encouraged to take pictures and get a close look at the balloons and their experienced pilots.
The nightglow event, which features balloons synchronized to music, will take place at Art Fiker Stadium, September 23 at dusk. The gates open at 5:45 p.m.
