ICE arrests child rape suspect during nationwide investigation
BENTON COUNTY, Wash. - A suspect accused of child rape has been arrested during a nationwide search after he fled the United States to Mexico.
Updates from Benton County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) said Salvador Lopez-Vidal, 23, was reportedly involved in child rape and molestation in Finley. BCSO detectives began investigating in October 2016.
Detectives said Lopez-Vidal fled to Mexico and a nationwide warrant was issued for his arrest on charges of four counts of first degree child rape and two counts of first degree child molestation.
Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) reported Lopez-Vidal's arrest June 7, 2017 after he tried to illegally re-enter the U.S. at the San Diego border.
Reports said Lopez-Vidal is being held in the San Diego County Jail and is set to stand trial in Benton County.
