Kadlec Medical Center lockdown lifted, police respond to threats
RICHLAND, Wash. - Officials have taken Kadlec Medical Center off of lockdown status after a former patient made threats towards the facility.
Richland Police Department (RPD) received a message regarding a threat made by a patient who was dissatisfied by a financial matter and said they'd bring a weapon to the Kadlec campus.
RPD responded and the main campus was placed on lockdown Thursday afternoon, according to reports.
Police say there is currently no confirmation of criminal activity and no significant imminent threat was made on campus.
The lockdown was lifted at approximately 2 p.m. Thursday and RPD officials said there is no heightened security as Kadlec.
RPD is addressing patient safety as the primary concern and said due to hospital traffic and multiple entrances to the facility, the department works closely with the Kadlec staff to help ensure patient safety.
Police said no one was denied medical care during this incident.
RPD officials continue to investigate and will interview a subject to confirm identity.
