Kadlec reassures: meningitis not a concern here

RICHLAND-- Kadlec officials contacted Action News hoping to reassure the public following recent reports on a meningitis outbreak elsewhere in the country.

Here's what the medical center had to say, via spokesperson Jim Hall:

"You likely have seen a story running nationally about 5 people dying from an outbreak of a rare form of meningitis caused by a fungal infection from steroids used to treat back pain. Our Kadlec Neuroscience Center (KNC) has received some calls from patients wondering if its doctors use products from the drug manufacturer in question. The answer is no. Kadlec Neuroscience Center physicians use a product purchased from a different company not connected with the supplier in question."
