Kennewick Fire Department honors local heroes

KENNEWICK -- You may recall the accidents back in December on Clearwater Avenue. The workers who helped rescue an injured cyclist were honored by the Kennewick Fire Department. Employees from Les Schwab helped lift the car off the injured woman. She spent months in the hospital.

Kennewick's fire chief gave the employees three glass statuettes and a plaque for heroic service. Employees remain humble.

"Well, I don't feel like I saved someone's life. I just helped out until the fire department came. It's something that I'm pretty sure anyone would have done," says Esteban Magana.

Workers from an auto-parts store across the street were honored last week for helping the cyclist as well. The Kennewick Fire Department says the workers' quick and selfless action saved the biker's life.
