Kennewick man accused of trying to force girl into prostitution

KENNEWICK POLICE NEWS RELEASE -- On June 12, 2013, Kennewick Police Officer Noble responded to the 7-11 Store at Neel St and Clearwater Ave. He found a 15 year of age female victim crying and injured having been assaulted by a 14 year of age female defendant.

The victim and a juvenile witness reported that several hours earlier in the 3200 block of W. 9th Pl. 14 year of age juvenile defendant had attempted to intimidate the victim to have sex with an older male for cash. The victim had refused to get in Defendant car. Defendant told the victim that she just cost her four hundred dollars because she would not engage in a prostitution act. The other juvenile Defendant was also in the car when this occurred and attempted to get out of the car at that time to beat up the victim for refusing.

The witness and victim reported that they had gone to 7-11 on Clearwater Ave and were exiting the store when one of the juvenile Defendants walked up and started punching the victim. Both the witness and victim reported that the second juvenile Defendant's boyfriend, Deepak Samra, 19, was present and encouraging the first Defendant to knee the victim in the face during the assault. After beating up the victim, the defendants fled together in a green car.

Detective Runge interviewed the victim who stated that Samra and the 16 year of age female Defendant befriended her and attempted to get her to prostitute herself, telling her that "they" could make a lot of money. The victim reported that Samra took nude photos of her with the intent to advertize her for prostitution in the Seattle area. The victim added that she did not go to Seattle with them. The victim stated that within the last two months (she did not recall the exact date), the 16 year old female Defendant pressured her to have sex with the Defendant 30 year old neighbor for $60.00. Defendant gave the victim $10.00 of the $60.00 the neighbor had paid for sex. The victim avoided the couple (Samra and his 16 year old girlfriend "at all costs" after this.

The victim said that the 16 year old Defendant had called her several times during the day of June 12, 2013. When the victim refused to cooperate, the 16 year old Defendant showed up at her house and demanded she get in the car while the victim, the witness and another friend were preparing to leave. The victim refused and was assaulted as a result.

On June 27, 2013, a search warrant was served at 3523 W Hood Ave, E206. Defendant 1 and Defendant 2 were arrested for Promoting Commercial Abuse of a Minor and Assault Second degree with intent to commit a felony.

On June 28, 2013, Samra was arrested and interviewed. Samra was booked into the Benton County Jail for Promoting Commercial Abuse of a Minor and Assault Second degree with intent to commit a felony.

The case is still under investigation and there could be additional persons involved.
