Kennewick police investigate attempted car robbery

KENNEWICK, Wash. - Police are investigating an attempted car theft in which the thief used a shaved key.

An unidentified car thief tried to steal a red 1991 Honda Civic, according to Kennewick Police Department (KPD) reports.

Investigators said the suspect was able to unlock the car with a shaved down Honda key but was unable to start the car, and broke the shaved key in the ignition.

Police are cautioning owners of late 80's or early 90's Honda models to replace locks and ignition with newer ones as these car models are often stolen due to worn out ignitions.
