Kennewick police nab burglary suspect

KENNEWICK POLICE DEPARTMENT NEWS RELEASE -- On 03/15/14 at approximately 0418 hours in the 700 block of S. Wilson Street in Kennewick, a male was reported as having entered a residence and taking numerous items to include prescription medications, cell phones, a purse, credit cards, and cash.

The victim gained a description of the male and was able to obtain a location of the cell phone through an online GPS tracker. The tracker placed the cell phone in the restrooms at Hansen Park. The restrooms were searched by KPD officers, but the suspect was not located inside. In the restrooms, one of the prescription bottles stolen from the victim's residence was located.

The victim, his brother, and KPD officers canvassed the area in search of the other stolen property. During the canvass, the victim's brother located the suspect matching the description from the burglary in the area of the 8300 block of W. 5th Avenue.

KPD officers quickly responded to the area and the suspect was taken into custody without incident. The suspect, identified as Kevin Wilson, was found to be in possession of numerous of the stolen items from the residence of the victim. Wilson was also found to be in possession of narcotics at the time of his apprehension. The stolen items found in Wilson's possession were returned to the victim.

Wilson was booked at the Benton County Jail on suspicion of Residential Burglary and Violation of the Unified Controlled Substance Act.
