KENNEWICK POLICE NEWS RELEASE -- On Wednesday December 12, 2012 a man reported his 1992 Honda Accord was stolen overnight from outside his residence. On Thursday December 13th a on duty Kennewick Police Officer spotted the vehicle a short distance from the location it was stolen at 4th Ave and Kent Street occupied by three subjects, a male driver and two female passengers. Kennewick Officers followed the vehicle for a distance and then attempted to stop the vehicle. At that time the driver fled from officers taking them through Kennewick and eventually to State Route 397 via South Olympia Street. Traffic and speed conditions allowed officers to continue following the suspects who eventually continued to Interstate 82 where Washington State Patrol Troopers continued the pursuit West on I82 to Dallas Rd where the suspect exited and returned to I82 heading east. Troopers were able to stop the vehicle east of the Clearwater exit on I82 where three subjects were detained.
31 year old Roman H Estrada has been booked into the Benton County Corrections Center on a 72 Hour Investigative Hold for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm; Auto Theft and Attempting to Elude. A 17 year old female has been booked into the Benton County Juvenile Justice Center on a Juvenile warrant and a second female was released.
The stolen vehicle has been recovered and is being held pending a search warrant for additional evidence.
