Law enforcement investigating inmate death at Benton County Jail
BENTON COUNTY, Wash. —
The Special Investigative Unit is investigating the death of a 28-year-old inmate at the Benton County Jail.
According to the Benton County Sheriff's Office, the inmate was found around 7:30 A.M. on Saturday in a cell by himself.
Attempts to perform CPR and then resuscitate him were unsuccessful.
He was pronounced deceased by a medical doctor.
BCSO says he was booked into the Benton County Jail on Thursday night for possession of methamphetamine and an outstanding Kennewick warrant for theft.
Officials say at the time of his booking no indications or concerns were noted.
According to BCSO, the Special Investigative Unit was activated as part of the sheriff office’s policies and procedures.
