Local teens fast for 30 hours

PASCO -- Chances are, many of you sit down to dinner with your family each night. But unfortunately, not everyone will have the means to eat tonight.

That's exactly why several teens fasted for 30 hours this weekend. The group is from Riverview United Methodist Church in Pasco. They're raising awareness to hunger issues in our area. We're told the team even assembled a cardboard city to see what it's like to be homeless and not have food.

"I just thought it would be interesting to see what is would be like to be homeless in the winter," said famine participant Samantha Dufault.

So many people now get whatever they want without having to work for it. And now we're raising awareness for how homeless people have to work for what they want," added famine participant Cameron Estes.

The team is accepting food donations as part of their project. All donations will be given to the Union Gospel Mission.
