Luring: The numbers show cases are rare

HERMISTON, Ore.-- Concerns spread like wildfire on social media Wednesday. The rumors suggested a kidnapper was on the loose in Hermiston.

The police chief responded with a strong statement about circulating these rumors and insists there was never even an attempted kidnapping or luring.

We know your child's safety is a top priority at all time, but it's good to remember luring incidents are rare.

We pulled the numbers and found Pasco and Kennewick each report five over the past three years.Richland reports two with none so far this year.

The most recent incidents all happened in Pasco. One along West Hopkins and another on West Argent.

The statistics on luring in Hermiston were not available when we requested them Thursday.
