Major progress for Franklin County jail expansion

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Wash. -- Your taxes were raised to pay for it -- and work is plugging away on the new Franklin County Jail.

We're told construction is going so well that work is a few days ahead of schedule.

The jail is slated to be completed next spring.

Money is coming from the so called "crime tax" passed by voters in 2011.

When completed, the jail will be able to hold double the number of prisoners.

The jail expansion comes in the midst of overcrowding at the existing jail.

For years the jail has been at double capacity.
