Man accused of 9-month-old's death now faces rape, murder charges
BENTON COUNTY, Wash. -- The charges against convicted sex offender Jose Aguilar were upgraded to 1st degree rape of a child and 2nd degree murder. He pleaded not guilty Wednesday in court.
Aguilar was originally held on a manslaughter charge.
The Richland man is suspected of killing his girlfriend's nine-month old at the home they shared in north Richland. According to court papers, the child suffered severe vaginal trauma and had fractures to her skull when she was found dead in her crib on June 7th.
Aguilar was returned to Benton County after fleeing to California.
He is a level-one sex offender for a conviction years ago in Kansas.
