Man arrested after fire destroys Kennewick apartment

UPDATE: A 31-year-old man was arrested for reckless burning after fire destroyed a Kennewick apartment. Officials said 31-year-old Jason D. Hill was booked into Benton County Jail for reckless burning.

Investigators determined that two males were in the apartment when the fire started but had evacuated the apartment prior to police and fire arrival. No one was hurt.

KENNEWICK POLICE NEWS RELEASE-- On 09/27/13 at approximately 0205 hours, the Kennewick Fire Department and the Kennewick Police Department responded to 530 N. Edison Street #F107 regarding an apartment fire. Upon arrival, Officers and Firefighters found the apartment partially engulfed in flames.

The apartment was found to be unoccupied at the time of the fire. Kennewick Fire personnel quickly knocked down the fire to keep it from spreading to other apartments.

No one was injured during the blaze. Investigators are currently working on the case in an attempt to determine the cause of the fire.
