Man dies after reportedly jumping onto moving train to escape law enforcement
NEAR RITZVILLE, Wash. —
A man died on Tuesday after he jumped off of an overpass onto a moving a train in an attempt to escae law enforcement.
According to the Adams County Sheriff's Office, the incident began when Franklin County Sheriff deputies, Washington State Patrol troopers and Connell Police pursued a man in Franklin County, heading into Adams County.
Spike strips were used, but proved unsuccessful.
On Interstate 90 close to Ritzville, the man's car lost its tires at milepost 238 and stopped.
The man fled on foot and went up an embankment and onto an overpass.
The sheriff's office says the man reportedly jumped onto a moving train, but didn't survive.
At this time the man's name is not known.
